🗺️ How to get to FYLY charter base in Mandraki Marina marina in Rhodes:
Rhodes Island can easily be reached by plane or by ferry. The airport caters to many regular international flights to and from Italy, England, Germany, Scandinavian cities and Israel, mostly during the summer, as well as a big number of charter flights to and from all around the world. Domestic flights are run daily from Athens by Olympic Air and Aegean Airlines. Flight time from Athens is approx. 60-80 minutes. The airport is located 15km away from the city of Rhodes, on the west coast of the island.
A public bus service connects the airport to the city and taxis are also very easy to find just outside the airport.
Taxi will drop you (and your luggage) off right in the marina with 25-30 Euros.
Another way to get to Rhodes is by ferry boat. There are regular ferry lines connecting Rhodes with Athens (Pireaus Port), Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Cyprus and Turkey. The ferry takes approx. 12 hrs to get to Rhodes from Piraeus port (it stops on various islands before), however in the summertime there are also some “express” ferries that take approx. 7- 8 hrs only. No doubt the ferry is a more affordable solution although more “time wasting”. For further information on ferry schedule and prices you can visit greekferries.gr
🛒 Provisioning: A supermarket is located in the marina (open all-day). If you want you can also pre-order your provisionings by sending us a proovisioning list prior your charter.
🚇 Transfer facilities: FYLY Yachting could arrange a transfer for you by minibus or by taxi (upon request).
🛂 Port authorities: Our base manager will arrange everything with Port Authorities. The only thing we require from the skipper of the charter is to have with him his original sailing license and to send a copy of it two weeks prior to his charter. Find out how to become a skipper by learning about the available sailing qualifications.
🌦️ Weather forecast: You should always try to get a weather forecast before sailing away, especially if going more than several miles from shore, as it is difficult to tell at a glance what winds will appear, due to large landmasses, mountains and other geographical features. You can use your radio, Navtex or contact the Port Police. A forecast in Greek and English is given for all Greek waters at 06:00, 10:00, 16:00, 22:00 (GMT+2). Gale warnings are given at the beginning of the broadcast and a special security warning on Ch 16 gives all the VHF frequencies for different areas. VHF channel 16 broadcasts Gale Warnings as well as regular forecasts, upon vessel request. OLYMPIA RADIO broadcasts pre-recorded Weather and Sea bulletins in Greek and English.
