FYLY Yachting: Commitment to Social Solidarity through the Share & Care 2024 Initiative
We live in a constantly changing world, with changes that for some may mean improvement, while for others bring challenges. In any case, the overarching concept of humanity remains constant, setting us apart from non-thinking beings. As we enter the summer period, the most relaxed time of the year, it is important to remember that there are fellow humans who struggle to secure even the basic necessities for their survival.
Summer vacations may be synonymous with luxury and relaxation, but even during this period, we can find ways to help our fellow humans and support the efforts of various solidarity structures and organizations.
FYLY Yachting, in collaboration with RODOS Cars and under the auspices of MARINES RHODES SA, is proud to actively participate in the “Share & Care 2024” initiative. This initiative aims to help people facing financial difficulties, providing substantial support to the local communities of Rhodes.
The initiative began on Saturday, May 18, 2024, and will continue throughout the summer season. Every Saturday, starting at 8:00 to 12:00 AM, a vehicle provided by RODOS Cars will be located near pier M. This vehicle is ready to collect products that were not consumed by our customers during their sailing holidays. These products will be offered to structures and families in Rhodes that are in need. It is important to emphasize that even small quantities are welcome and valuable to those who need help.
FYLY Yachting’s participation in this initiative is a testament to our commitment to supporting the local community and offering to our fellow humans. Additionally, we thank our staff for informing our customers and supporting the collection process.
Through the “Share & Care 2024” initiative, FYLY Yachting demonstrates its solidarity and support to people in need, reaffirming our social responsibility and humanity. Through this initiative, we can all contribute to a better and more equitable tomorrow for everyone.

Against Evil Demons: The Greek Tradition of the “Eye”
Against Evil Demons: The Greek Tradition of the “Eye”
From ancient times to modern times, the Greeks have deepened their belief in the existence of evil spirits and the evil eye, manifested by the term “Evil Eye” κακό μάτι ( kako mati ). From ancient myths and rituals to everyday habits and beliefs, the idea of bad luck caused by abuse or jealousy was deeply rooted in Greek culture.
In our culture, the “Eye” is a symbol of protection and optimism. Through this item, Greeks try to block out negativity and maintain a positive attitude towards life’s challenges.
The “Eye” appears in various forms – from small ornaments to larger objects of protection. Regardless of its form, the essence remains the same: a belief in positive energy and a willingness to face challenges with optimism.
So, through the tradition of the “Eye”, the Greeks find the antidote to the evil spirits and the gloom that surrounds them. By keeping this object close to them, they maintain a positive outlook and face life with optimism and strength.
Nevertheless, with FYLY’s yachts and services, beautiful holidays are guaranteed and no “Eye” is needed.
This Greek tradition teaches us that solidarity and faith in positive energy can banish even the darkest thoughts and lead us to a life full of optimism and joy.

Easter with a yacht in the Greek islands: Popular Sailing Destinations
Easter with a yacht in the Greek islands
Popular Sailing Destinations in Greece during Easter:
As the gentle waves of the Aegean Sea lap against the hull, the scent of saltwater mingling with the promise of adventure fills the air. A yacht, adorned in luxury, sets sail amidst the tranquil beauty of the Greek islands, its destination intertwined with the essence of Easter. Patmos, Tinos, Paros, Hydra, and Syros beckon with their unique charms, inviting travelers to immerse themselves in a tapestry of tradition, history, and breathtaking landscapes.
Patmos island
The small island of the Dodecanese, Patmos, has managed to stand out through its beautiful architecture with white houses, clean beaches and, of course, the island’s two important attractions: the Monastery of Agios Ioannis the Theologian and the Cave of the Apocalypse.
Patmos Town is one of the most beautiful, having been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the atmospheric setting captivates the visitor. Imposing architecture, narrow alleys with windmills, white houses make up the scenery of Chora and the only thing is certain is that you will get your fill of walks with the best background.
Tinos island
The picturesque villages, the gastronomy and the activities that Tinos offers are becoming a pole of attraction for visitors who have discovered the beauties of the Cycladic island in recent years.
Our Lady of Tinos, throughout the year, attracts thousands of people around the world, who can enjoy a rich program of attractions, beaches and of course taste the gastronomy of the special place.
The Town of Tinos does not have such a picturesque character, as is usual in the Cyclades, however the villages have managed to stand out. The Two Villages, Volax and Kampos are among the most Instagrammable villages that each point has such a beautiful background for you to enjoy your walks.
Paros island
The third largest island of the Cyclades has everything a visitor needs to unwind: island architecture, deep blue beaches, picturesque villages and many alternative activities.
Parikia is the capital of the island, while many visitors have been won over by Naoussa, a picturesque fishing village with some of the best shops on the island. Walking through the alleys of Naoussa you will be delighted with the Cycladic architecture and the imposing white houses.
The Cycladic island is famous for its Easter customs that are revived every year, attracting visitors who wish to experience them up close. On Good Friday, it takes place in St. Georgios, in Lagadas, a ritual in nature, while at noon soup of chickpea is served in the village of Prodromos. The day ends in the evening with the reenactments of the Passions in the villages of Marpissa, Prodromos, Lefkes and Aspro Chorio.
In Parikia, on the night of the Epitaph, an overwhelming atmosphere prevails and the 3 epitaphs meet where the faithful follow in silence.
Hydra island
Not far from Athens, the picturesque island of Argosaronicos has a rich history and beautiful architecture that the visitor has the impression of traveling back in time.
In fact, Hydra is one of the favorite islands of artists, as its entire architecture inspires from writers to visual artists. On the other hand, it is an island ideal for families since vehicles are prohibited.
One of the most numerous Easter customs of the island is the procession of the Epitaph, on the evening of Good Friday, where it takes place in the sea. The pallbearers wade in up to their knees, touching the epitaph’s feet in the water. This specific custom was carried out for the first time in Kaminia in 1923.
Syros island
Syros is one of the most imposing and stately islands of the Cyclades with a rich history. A walk in Ermoupolis will reward you as it is a beautiful city with neoclassical buildings and imposing mansions. Spend time walking through its alleys.
Put a visit to Ano Syros, the oldest settlement, on your schedule. The place retains its medieval character and is an attraction in itself. In Poseidonia, your interest will be piqued by the rich mansions that have been built in previous centuries.
On the island, Orthodox and Catholic Easter are celebrated together. In fact, on Good Friday, the epitaphs start from a different parish and meet in Miaouli Square.
On the evening of Holy Saturday, the Resurrection that takes place at the top of Hermoupolis is impressive. As for the food, the stew has the first word, while lamb or goat meat with lemon potatoes.
On Sunday afternoon, the Vespers of Love is sung in a church in Ermoupolis, and is read in 12 languages.
As the yacht gracefully sails homeward, the memories of Easter in the Greek Islands linger like the echoes of a hymn, resonating within the hearts of those fortunate enough to embark on this seafaring odyssey. In the embrace of tradition, spirituality, and natural beauty, Easter in the Greek islands transcends mere celebration, becoming a journey of the soul, where each destination unveils a new chapter in the timeless story of Greece.

Sustainability has become increasingly important in the yachting industry as more and more people are becoming aware of the environmental impacts that their actions can have on the planet. Yachting, like other forms of recreation, can have a significant environmental impact. The emissions from yachts, fuel use, water pollution and waste management all need to be taken into account when considering sustainability within this industry. Sustainability is not only important for the environment but also for the sustainability of businesses and communities connected to yachting.
Yacht sustainability efforts are centered around reducing emissions, conserving energy, optimizing fuel efficiency and improving waste management practices. Companies in the yachting industry are trying to reduce their carbon footprint by using eco-friendly materials such as bamboo and hemp fibers for sails and other items on board of vessels and relying on renewable energy sources such as solar panels or wind turbines to power onboard systems. They are also looking into water pollution prevention measures such as using oil absorbent booms or incinerators instead of dumping oil overboard. In addition to this, companies are implementing improved waste management techniques including composting organic waste on board.
On a larger scale, sustainability initiatives within the yachting industry include carbon offsetting programs which help to reduce negative environmental impacts from activities related to yacht travel. This includes programs focused on reducing emissions from marine engines by providing alternative propulsion options that require less fuel consumption such as electric motors or hydrogen fuel cells. Programs like these can also encourage sustainability-minded consumers to invest in new technologies that allow them to keep up with sustainability practices while cruising at sea.
Alongside these efforts, organizations within the yachting industry are also working towards sustainability goals through education and engagement with stakeholders both inside and outside of their sector. Education initiatives include training sessions for crew members on topics such as sustainable navigation, conservation practices while at sea and how they can be better stewards of ocean resources while out at sea. Additionally, many companies are advocating for increased protection of vulnerable marine ecosystems through research projects or supporting government policies that promote sustainability-focused regulations for the yachting industry.
In recent years there has been an increasing interest in sustainability among yacht owners who want to enjoy their vessel without harming the environment in any way possible. As a result more manufacturers are offering eco-friendly vessels with features designed specifically for sustainability such as lightweight construction materials designed for greater speed with less fuel consumption or heat insulation systems designed to reduce thermal losses while sailing or sitting in port overnight. These innovative designs offer luxury boating experiences while still maintaining minimal negative environmental impacts which allows customers to enjoy their time at sea without guilt or worry about harming our planet’s oceans and marine life.
Overall sustainability is becoming an increasingly important part of the yachting industry both from an economic standpoint as well as an environmental one due its ability to protect both financial investments made by yacht owners as well as our planet’s precious natural resources moving forward into future generations. By investing in eco-friendly technologies for vessels, investing in education initiatives about sustainability practices at sea and advocating for increased protection of fragile ocean habitats we can ensure a healthy future for our oceans and support continued enjoyment of recreational activities like yachting worldwide that provide unique experiences not available anywhere else on land or sea!
Sustainability practices to bareboat yacht charters?
Bareboat yacht charters apply many popular sustainability practices in yachting due to their ability to minimize environmental impacts while allowing customers to enjoy their vacation or leisure time at sea. These charters typically require less fuel consumption since the vessel is not being moved around frequently and also reduce waste as they often include no-single use plastic policies or compostable food packaging options. Additionally, bareboat charters can prevent overfishing by providing customers with sustainability education on topics such as respecting Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and avoiding fishing in areas that could be home to delicate species of marine life. Lastly, these eco-friendly charter companies often offer reuseable water bottles for guests and promote the purchase of local supplies from sustainability-minded vendors over single use items that are shipped from abroad. Through these sustainability practices, bareboat yacht charters can help to reduce the environmental footprint of yachting and promote responsible and eco-friendly recreational activities at sea!
List of eco-friendly practices for yacht charters
1. Minimize fuel consumption by avoiding frequent vessel movement
2. Reduce waste upon charter with no-single use plastic policies and compostable food packaging options
3. Respect Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) when fishing or cruising
4. Provide sustainability education for guests on eco-friendly yachting practices
5. Offer reusable water bottles to replace single-use plastics
6. Encourage the purchase of local supplies from sustainability-minded vendors over those shipped from abroad
7. Monitor environmental conditions in each area visited to ensure sustainability standards are met and maintained throughout the charter period
By investing in sustainability practices like these, yacht charters can help minimize their environmental impacts while still allowing customers to enjoy unique experiences at sea without worry or guilt. Yachting sustainability is an important part of the industry and one that must be taken seriously in order to protect our planet’s oceans and marine life for future generations. Investing in sustainability practices today can help ensure a healthy future for yachting as well as our planet’s precious natural resources!
Yacht owners can also invest in sustainability certification programs which offer guidance on eco-friendly practices and standards that should be followed when owning, operating, or chartering a vessel. These sustainability certifications provide practical advice tailored to individual boat models and operations such as fuel optimization strategies, energy efficiency solutions, waste management policies, sustainability education for guests, and more. By investing in sustainability certification for yacht charters, boat owners can ensure that their vessels are operating with the utmost sustainability standards possible!
In conclusion, sustainability has become an essential part of the yachting industry as it ensures a better future for both economic investments made by consumers as well as our planet’s natural resources. By investing in eco-friendly technologies for vessels, investing in education initiatives about sustainability practices at sea and advocating for increased protection of fragile ocean habitats we can all do our part in protecting our oceans and support continued enjoyment of recreational activities like yachting worldwide into the future!
